Dino Felt Jaded

What a complete waste of time that whole 'Australian first' was, last week. We were told it was going to be a huge deal, this 'under the radar' thing, and what with all the time and effort the BB producers put into the thing, it didn't even result in anyone being evicted.

I'm glad John was safe, as I think he's probably one of the remaining Housemates with the highest morals and appears to be 'the nicest guy'. I wouldn't have minded Krystal being evicted (not at all), but she was saved by Danielle's 'three point twist', so I thought it was interesting that Danielle didn't try to save Dino (not that it would have helped - Dino had too many nomination points anyway).

Dino had been really annoying me (but if he'd actually been more interesting, I would have been happy for him to stay in the House and continue to annoy the other Housemates), so I was glad to see him evicted. Imagine my surprise, then, when he was having his conversation on the couch with She-Man Gretel and I found myself really liking his answers and feeling for him at the appropriate moments! Am I falling for Dino? It was great to hear him admit to having learnt some stuff ("until now I didn't know what it was"), and it's completely understandable for him to have been in the dark about the 'treatment of the girls' thing if none of them told him. Having not lived with girls before, he was justifiably ignorant of it until the video montage made it more clear for him. I won't hold his behaviour against him (it wasn't all that terrible anyway), and I hope for his sake the 'tag' of treating women 'differently' won't follow him forevermore, as he told Gretel he now dreaded it would.

As for his 'over-competitiveness', that's a load of rubbish. He's meant to be competitive in the House, so if some are rougher than others, perhaps the others need to toughen up a bit. That's no reason to go whinging about him to BB. Unless he's being violent or offensive, he's just playing the game and getting excited.

The whole Dino-Danielle-John thing was amusing - but only in that Dino had no idea and even felt bad that he'd inadvertently prevented John from 'having a go', considering Dino himself wasn't all that interested and was just 'going through the motions'. What a shame John's too nice a guy to make a move on Danielle (especially when she was crying after Dino's eviction) ... at least not until after a reasonable 'mourning period'. Dino was a nice guy after all - he just hid it underneath a fairly rough exterior. I hope he ends up being happy with himself. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all.

And then there was Jade. {Yawn.} No surprise she was evicted first, although she too seemed to have a sad journey. If the other Housemates are complaining that she won't talk to them and then when she sits down with them they all get up and leave, the problem isn't so much with Jade anymore as with everyone else not giving her a chance. However, we only saw this happen on the video once (despite her claim that it happened a lot), and I personally don't remember it happening any other time. I'm not challenging her claim that it happened frequently; I'm just saying I only know of that one incident that was shown last night. Also, I suspect that this started to happen after they'd mentally 'given up' on trying anymore. I seriously doubt this would have been their reaction to her from the get-go. She must have burned her bridges with them too often for them to start walking away from her. Because she's such high maintenance, it's only natural (if a little rude) for them to wish they were elsewhere whenever she walks over to join them. (Maybe it's her eyes that scare people off.)

It's certainly sad that she was so lonely in the House and no one wanted to talk to her (except Jade herself, who seemed to hold some wonderful conversations on her own), so hopefully she'll be much happier now that she's been returned to the real world. Maybe the BB House wasn't so good for her. It may have been different if she'd been an original Housemate rather than an Intruder.

My video tape last night ran out just after Dino's conversation with Gretel on the couch. Gretel threw to the ad saying that we'd come back for the Ten BB Questions with both Dino and Jade, but during that ad break the tape stopped. So I saw no further than that. The reason I'm telling you this is that I don't know if Dino was told (on air) about Jade's role as The New Insider, or what he thought about her pathetic and lame two 'missions' that no one would have noticed. (Consider the difference in entertainment / House-angst between each of Michael's missions and the two Jade was given - how weak.) I also don't know if any new twist for this week was promised to us at the end of the show, such as if a third Insider has been promised (although going from Jade's missions, it seems that BB is 'over' the whole idea), and what prizes the two evicted Housemates got. Was it the same as Michael last week? (Holiday, $2,000 cash, motorbike and two 3 phones?) Did anything interesting get revealed during the questions? Is Dino going to be in pain having to do the interview rounds with Jade by his side the whole time?

Maybe they'll be good for each other. Dino's not used to living with women, and Jade's not used to having anyone to talk to. Now that they're unable to be separated for a full week, perhaps we'll hear of a new romance by the show's finale?

I felt sorry for Dino for having to go everywhere with Jade.

She sucked.

And was semi-retarded.
