Locked Up To The Max

I have it on good authority that Stephen Lovatt, who plays Max Hoyland on Neighbours, will be departing the show for a period of time later this year, returning in 2007 (or sooner; perhaps later this year).

Ever since Max backed his car into Katya, I have been suspecting that this will be achieved on the show by having his character locked up for a time (it's apparently going to be a two month hiatus) on some charge or other.

Of course, it now appears that his running into Cameron Robinson will be the cause; whatever the outcome of Cameron's life-in-the-balance situation and Paul's threats.

A couple of things that could happen here:

- Katya could get quite upset/obsessed/bunny-boiler-like at Max after he tells her he's not interested (I know he's done this already, but it looks like he's going to have to be more forceful about it), and then that will make her turn jealous and bitter towards him (hell hath no fury, etc), leading to her testifying against him in court, telling them what Max owned up to about their accident (that he was on his mobile to Steph when he backed into Katya).
- Cameron could die and Max will be charged with manslaughter or similar.
- Cameron could live but Max could still be charged for manslaughter or reckless driving, etc.
- Cameron could die and Paul may take actions that lead us to believe Max is dead (maybe he'll turn up in 2007 with Connor and Dee, fresh from drinking their way around Australia without thinking to contact anyone back home?).
- The accident/s may not be primarily responsible for Max's departure from the show. It could actually be that he and Steph break up (probably over Katya or associated issues), and maybe Max leaves to live with his mother (a reverend) in Fiji or something. He may even return a changed man! But the point is, his disappearance from the show is only meant to last for around two months, so it can't be anything too drastic.

As I said, Max's leave of absence from the show may have nothing whatsoever to do with the current storyline being unraveled, but it strikes me as an excellent way of temporarily writing a character out of a show. I don't really know the timeline of his expected departure, so I could be wrong. But it'd make perfect sense, so just remember: You heard it here first (or maybe not first; for all I know this will be common knowledge by the time I post this!).

Also, 'Blind Anne' is definitely the real Bree Timmins. There's no doubt. But will it all lead to a satisfactory conclusion? So far it's been unrealistically drawn out and convoluted.

Chuck A. Spear, you don't know how much it pleases me to hear (read) you say (type) that. My work is serving a purpose! (Kind of.)

One question, though ... and this may sound contrite of me, but I don't mean it to ... if you don't own a TV, how did you watch Neighbours last night?

Anyway, to the questions you posed me:

Which 'damn hospital scene' do you mean, exactly? And what are you trying to ask me about it? (Sorry; that wasn't really answering your question, but I'm not sure what you meant.)

And the kid (Zeke) is up in the roof due to not feeling like he's able to connect with Dr Karl Kennedy, who has just moved back in with Susan and is therefore kind of a stepfather to Zeke (in spirit at least). In Monday's episode, when bemoaning to Toadie that he doesn't know how to relate to Karl, Toadie advised him to check in the roof next to the water heater (or something like that), for the piece of inspiration that has kept many a young man going during their tenure in that house.

Susan made an oblique reference to this in the episode you saw (although as a character she doesn't know it), when she asked Katya (Zeke's oldest of two sisters) in exasperation why it appears that all the teenage boys who've ever lived in the house - and some who haven't - have always been fascinated with being inside the roof.

I guess we're meant to think it's some kind of porn stash or something (not sure how that'd help Zeke get in contact with Karl ... ewww, there's a theory there after all but I'm not touching it), but as Neighbours is a PG-rated show, I'm guessing it'll end up being something (more) innocent.

But as an audience, we're yet to see what it is that's up there. So in a sense, you haven't missed anything with that subplot.

Yet.

PS - I hate the 'acting' of Katya, Zeke and their middle sibling Rachel, and find it incredibly annoying that all three of them have threatened at one time or another over the past few weeks to leave Erinsborough (and therefore the show), but Susan has opened her fat mouth and convinced them all to stay.

Jackie Woodburne (who plays Susan) is such a fine actress, it must bug the lesbian pants off her to have to appear in so many scenes with these three retarded actors, not to mention that she's the one responsible for them sticking around.

It sure bugs me, anyway.

Hey Bevis. I watched Neighbours at a friends place.

The hospital scene(s) with the twin boy in the bed with the plasma TV - the one the NZ dude ran over.

I have noticed Jackie Woodburne has gone from scraves to skivvies since last year - yes she is a stalwart and a fine actress.

Is Karl dead?

Yes the supposed acting of Katya
is ordinary to say the least. Not as bad as those damn timmins' though.

Thanks for the updates.
