Sister In A Centrefold

I must say, this Neighbours plot development took me by surprise. I'd conveniently forgotten about Katya Kinski's mysterious past (thinking that we were meant to conveniently forget about it). Nothing had been said about it for a while and I guess I figured it had been 'shelved' for use in future only as general background information to enable her to sagely warn others to "be careful with your choices in life; I've experienced more than you think" and so on.

In fact, so much time had passed since it was revealed that there was something in her past that she should be worried about, and since Susan found out what it was and we were purposely kept in the dark, that I simply assumed that we were never going to find out the details and were just meant to know it was "shady" -- but forgiven, from Susan's perspective.

Even when it turned out that Toadie was indeed encouraging Zeke to rabbit around in the roof of Susan's house to find the pronographic magazines apparently left there by he and other teenage boys who've lived in the house (Mal? Billy? Who else has 'used' these mags? Ewww!), which I must also say I thought the writers of Neighbours would steer clear of specifying, I still didn't twig that poor little Zeke was going to have his ... um ... shall we say "enthusiasm" deflated by first having his secret stouch uncovered by his stepmother, and then by finding - of all people - his oldest sister featured inside one of the magazines.

[AUGGGGHHHHHH!]

How totally disgusting and disturbing for the young lad. I can't imagine how that's going to screw with his head for all future dealings with girls. But anyway.

I possibly should have seen it coming when Susan's method of dealing with porn-boy Zeke was to tell him it wasn't an accurate representation of women in real life (yeah, execpt for your own SISTER, buddy!). Even for a liberated, cool stepmum of the noughties, that seemed a bit tame (considering this is a 6:30pm timeslot, after all). I should have foreseen that something worst was to come of it.

And sure enough, as he was throwing the magazines away, one of them fell open and who did he see lazing about in a centrefold?

Oh, that's right. I already told you. His sister Katya. [shudders]

I guess that's Neighbours' way of dealing 'the karma card' to the little pervert. I bet he'll be steering clear of THAT kind of magazine in future. You never know WHO you might find in the next one, Zekey-m'boy!

I'm going to go have a shower now. I feel dirty.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Next week will finally mark Izzy's final moments in Neighbours. As if it wasn't hard to guess, it appears that she IS pregnant after all ... so stayed tuned for the possibility of her returning in five, ten or twenty years with a little Paul Robinson Jr or a little Karl Kennedy Jr (whose child is it?).

Maybe Izzy, Connor and Dee will all return for the Neighbours 30th anniversary in 2015. Marty McFly'll be there on his hoverboard, so I wouldn't miss it for all the jigawatts in Hill Valley.

I can't believe they're recycling story-lines so fast.

What price Cindy's 'shady past' as an escort?

This post was already good, but with the addition of the Marty McFly reference...well, Bevis, let's just say I'm feeling a litty giddy.

Elaine, good point. Sindi was definitely some kind of 'woman of the night', and now they're doing a very similar thing with Katya.

Audrey, hehe - glad it appealed to you! :)

MelbourneGirl, I'm sorry I can't help you out, there. But the Friday episode you missed was kind of covered (in part) by the contents of this post, if I'm remembering rightly. I hope you've been able to catch up relatively smoothly. And yes, it was never a question of Izzy dying - it was obvious by the very deliberate and apparent 'mislead' that she was pregnant instead. Good way to be written out, though! No death, just disappearing with a secret that will now hang over Karl & Susan's head for as long as they're on the show!! I hope we see the eventual pay-off.
