Three Words:

Due to some confusion and repetition in the comments, please read this post before you read on.

------------------------------------------

TiVoAussie YouTubed It!

Thanks for the email, TiVoAussie!

Hi BEVIS,

I can't get the blogger stuff to work (I'm at work) but you might like to know that the clip in question is now on youtube.
I put it up on Saturday. I TiVo Neighbours so I didn't see it until then. Maybe you could mention it on your blog?

It's here... And apparently number 89 (and rising) on the YouTube "Most Discussed" list!
Post a comment and help move us up the list!

Sure sounds like the naughty word to me! :)

Cheers
TiVoAussie

Me too, TiVoAussie - although the more I listen to it, the more I think it's actually frickin'. Still - not everyone agrees with me. Wifey sure doesn't. Neither does MelbourneGirl. What's your opinion, gentle reader?

Let the debate continue!

It is absolutely, definitely nothing other than "fucking".
We watched it 5 or 6 times.

Hmm ... that's my fault. I should have asked people to self-censor their comments.

If you don't mind. :)

oh bevis it's just a word. geez.

anyway, without wanting to be too provocative and getting in the poo with yoo too, i will refrain. clokes obviously forgot to use the * symbol of which you are so fond. you know, you didn't have to publish his comment, could have asked him to redo with ***s. are you worried about people reading swear words on your blog, or your own sensibilities? i'm not being a b*tch, just asking with a light tone, my dear friend...

i agree with enny. i wonder whether the actor rehearsed it so much to make it sound indecipherable. i don't believe it's clearly frickin, it is easy to hear the other word, very easy. there's no "i" sound in the first syllable, there's no clear "r" sound in the first syllable. there's (to me) a clear "u" sound as in butter.

i'm going with fruckin. go enny.

It's all cool. I put his comment through precisely because I'm not crazy-anal about it.

Note the smiley-face in my previous comment. That indicates I was smiling when I said it.

See? Smiley-faces serve a purpose! It's only when talking specifically to you that I refrain, and instead do this: x

All I'm trying to do is keep my blog family-friendly. But you'll notice that I put all comments through, whether they contain swearing or not. It's just the flamers I delete.

"Fruckin'" is a good call.

Aussie Rock Chick, I agree. It's certainly a concern, regardless of what the actual word used is/was. It's not as if the word (regardless of whether it was frickin' or something else) was necessary, anyway.

Spoken with anger (which it was), "Two words: Paul Robinson!" would have conveyed precisely the same sentiment - and prevented all this controversy.

(Although, it wouldn't have amounted to anywhere near as much free press!)

Bevis,

Totally disagree about your comment on the "two word version." I actually really lime the delivery of the line - he really spits it out, and he couldn't get the same rhythm with just "Paul Robinson." One reason I'm amazed people hear it as the F-word is that the "fricking" is really drawn out, almost into "freaking," which makes the whole delivery much more interesting. And not just because it is apparently causing auditory hallucinations.

I was reading when I heard 'Paul "fucking" Robinson' and couldn't believe it. Then I saw that youtube clip and it sounds like "fricking"...

However the clip doesn't let you see Frazer's face/mouth and the audio looks a little off to the movement of his body... Cover up anyone?!?
